I am an artist. I am an explorer. I am a mother. I am a creator. I am a performer.
I believe in art's inherent ability and duty to provoke, to unearth, to challenge, to inspire. I strive to create dances that do all of this, and on a good day, I will succeed at a few of these.
Movement serves as an entry point through which I process my personal emotions and experiences, information, and the big, wide world.
I have mad respect for the creative process, and try my best to get out of its way when making a work. This can cause quite the proverbial gnashing of teeth as I struggle against a force greater than myself.
As a choreographer and performer, I am deeply committed to digging. I have no control over what I may discover, only my intention TO discover.
I am obsessed with perspective and point of view. How content is communicated is often more thrilling than what is communicated.
I believe in collaboration as a way to build an empowered, trusting community within a creative process. I like to encourage dancers and other collaborators to express their own personal viewpoints within a work.
